Description

The data collection consists of (1) a protest event database of media freedom-related protest actions by journalists (N=209) and (2) semi-structured interviews with journalists (N=31) covering journalistic reaction to censorship pressure and protest behaviour in the case of Ukraine during the Yanukovich presidency, which allows a comparison of a consolidating competitive authoritarian regime (2010-13) with one in a time of political challenge and crisis (the Euromaidan protests in late 2013/early 2014).
